UN General Assembly Votes to Condemn Syrian Govt -Thursday May 16,2013

A vote tally is displayed following a UN General Assembly vote in favour of a resolution calling for political transition in Syria. The 193-member UN General Assembly approved an Arab-backed resolution condemning the regime of Syrian president Bashar Assad for human rights abuses and its escalating use of heavy weapons in the country's civil war.

The resolution strongly condemns the government of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad on two points: the escalation of heavy weapons on civilian areas, and what Qatar, which drafted the statement, calls systematic violations of human rights.
