Local Elections in UK -Thursday May 02,2013

The UK is holding on May 02,2013 -
  • 35 council elections in England and Wales 
  • two mayoral elections in Doncaster and North Tyneside and
  • parliamentary by-election in South Shields

In total, there are 35 councils – 34 in England and one in Wales – holding elections.There are no elections in Scotland or Northern Ireland.

 UKIP gained 139 seats, while the Conservatives lost 335 and Lib Dems dropped 124

UKIP,the anti-EU party took chunks out of the Conservatives, Labour and Lib Dems, grabbing 139 council seats by getting a quarter of the vote, pushing Labour into third and the Lib Dems into fourth

With all 34 council election results declared in England -
Conservative Party has won 1116 seats(lost 335 seats)
Labour Party has won 532 Seats(gain of 291 seats) 
Liberal Democratic Party has won 352 seats(lost 124 seats)
UKIP has won 147 seats(gain of 139 seats)
Green Party has won 22 seats(gain of 5 seats)
