ICC Champions Trophy

The ICC Champions Trophy is a ODI Cricket Tournament organised by the ICC, second in importance only to theCricket World Cup
The tournament was inaugurated as the ICC Knock Out Tournament in 1998 and has been played approximately every two years since
The tournament's name got changed to the Champions Trophy in 2002
Since 2009, the tournament has only involved the eight highest-ranked ODI teams as of six months prior to the tournament

1998 ICC Knock-Out Trophy

 

The 1998 ICC Knock-Out Trophy (officially known as Wills International Cup) was held in Bangladesh where 9 Teams participated -

Australia;England;India;New Zealand;Pakistan;South Africa;Sri Lanka;West Indies and Zimbabwe 

South Africa;Sri Lanka;India and West Indies entered into the Semi-finals

SF 1 - South Africa Vs Sri Lanka -South Africa Wins by 92 Runs by D/L Method

Scorecard - South Africa 240/7(39 Overs)and Sri Lanka 132/10(23.4 Overs)

Jacques Kallis scored 113* and was the Player of the Match

SF 2 - India Vs West Indies - West Indies wins by 6 Wickets

Scorecard - 242/6(50 Overs)and West Indies 245/4(47 Overs)

Sourav Ganguly scored 83 and for WI  Mervyn Dhillon took 3 for 38(8 Overs) and was the Player of the Match   

Finals - West Indies Vs South Africa - SA Wins by 4 Wickets


 

Scorecard - WI scored245/10(49.3 Overs)and SA scored 248/6(47 Overs)

Philo Wallace(WI)scored 103 Runs for WI and Hansie Cronje scored 61* for SA

Jacques Kallis took 5 for 30(7.3 Overs)and was the Player of the Match 

 

2000 ICC Knock-Out Trophy

The tournmanet was held in kenya where 8 Teams participated.Of which,Pakistan;New Zealand;India and South Africa entered into the semi-finals

SF 1 - Pakistan Vs New Zealand - NZ wins by 4 Wickets

Pakistan (252, 49.2 overs) lost to New Zealand (255-6 , 49 overs) 

SF 2 -India Vs South Africa -India wins by 95 Runs

India (295-6, 50 overs) beat South Africa (200, 41 overs) by 95 runs

Finals - New Zealand Vs India - NZ wins by 4 Wickets

India (264-6, 50 overs) lost to New Zealand (265-6, 49.4 overs) by 4 wickets

 

 

2002 ICC Knock-Out Trophy

 

The tournament was held in Sri Lanka where 12 Teams participated.Of which,India;South Africa;Australia and Sri Lanka entered into the semi-finals

SF 1 -India Vs South Africa - India wins by 10 Runs

Scorecard -India 261/9(50 Overs)and SA 251/6(50 Overs)

Yuraj Singh scored 62 Runs and Virender Sehwag took 3/5(5 Overs)and was the Player of the Match 

SF 2 - Australia Vs Sri Lanka - SL wins by 7 Wickets

Scorecard - Australia 162/10(48.3 Overs)and SL 163/3(40 Overs)

Finals - India Vs Sri Lanka - No Result

 

India and Sri Lanka are declared as co-champions because of rain
