Mother's Day is a Celebration Honoring Mothers and Motherhood, Maternal Bonds, and the Influence of Mothers in society.


The modern holiday of Mother's Day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother in Grafton, West Virginia,USA.


In 1912, Anna Jarvis trademarked the phrases "second Sunday in May" and "Mother's Day", and created the Mother's Day International Association

Anna Jarvis then began a campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday in the United States and was successful in 1914

Anna Marie Jarvis(May 1, 1864 – November 24, 1948) is the founder of the Mother's Day Holiday in USA
Anna Jarvis was born in the tiny town of Webster,West Virginia,USA and her birthplace, known as the Anna Jarvis house, was listed on the National Registry of Historic Place in 1979.
Anna Jarvis's mother Ann Jarvis had founded Mothers' Day Work Clubs in five cities to improve sanitary and health conditions
Anna Jarvis held a memorial to her mother on May 12, 1907, two years after her mother's deathand thereafter embarked upon a campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday and succeeded in making this nationally recognized in 1914
