2013 India Vs Australia 4-Test Series - -Feb 22-March 26,2013

Australia Names 17-man squad for 4-Test Series in India

Selectors on Thursday Jan 31,2013 announced a large and diverse range of bowling options, including five pacemen, two specialists spinners, uncapped allrounder Maxwell who bats in the middle order and bowls offbreaks and medium pace allrounder Moises Henriques.
Vice-captain Shane Watson was picked as a specialist batsman and opener David Warner was included despite a thumb injury which has ruled him out of the five-match limited-overs series against the West Indies starting Friday. Batsmen Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith have also been included as Australia searches for long-term replacements for recently-retired veterans Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey.
James Pattinson returns to the test lineup after injury to join a five-strong pace attack including Peter Siddle, Jackson Bird, Mitchell Starc and Mitchell Johnson.

Australia Squad:

Michael Clarke (capt), Ed Cowan, David Warner, Phil Hughes, Shane Watson, Matthew Wade, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Moises Henriques, James Pattinson, Xavier Doherty, Jackson Bird, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith

Indian Test Team Against Australia for 2 Tests - Feb 10,2013
Indian selectors on Sunday Feb 10,2013 picked Shikhar Dhawan leaving out an out-of-form Gautam Gambhir( has not scored a Test century since his 116 against Bangladesh at Chittagong in January 2010 and averaged just 30 since then) in the 15-man squad for the first 2 Tests against Australia, starting in Chennai on February 22,2013

Harbhajan Singh, who was left out from the last Test against England, has also been included and could get a chance to play his 100th Test match.Harbhajan's inclusion could also be the result of the number of left-handers in Australia's lineup and his record against the tourists in India (81 wickets in 12 Tests)

Selectors have given another chance to Virender Sehwag whose last 6  Test innings read 0, 23, 49, 30, 9 and 25

TN Murali Vijay has been selected based on his 116 for ROI against Mumbai in the Irani Cup.

Swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has also been rewarded for the consistency he had shown recently in limited-overs cricket, being selected along with Ishant Sharma and Ashok Dinda.

Leg spinner Piyush Chawla and Delhi medium pacer Parvinder Awana, as expected, have been left out.
Madhya Pradesh pace bowler Ishwar Pandey, who is the leading Ranji Trophy wicket-taker with 48 at 21.06 and collected 2 for 76 in 24 overs during Mumbai's first innings during the Irani Cup, was also overlooked.

Selectors also went against making a radical change by not picking veteran opening batsman Wasim Jaffer, who has scored 915 runs in 12 innings this domestic season so far and reeled off 835 runs in seven matches (average of 76) during the Ranji Trophy.

India Squad: MS Dhoni (capt & wk), Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, R Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ajinkya Rahane, Ashok Dinda, Murali Vijay, Ishant Sharma
