Singapore is a Parliamentary Representative Democratic Republic whereby the President is Head of State , the Prime Minister is the Head of Govt.Executive Power is exercised by the cabinet. Cabinet has the general direction and control of the Government and is collectively responsible to Parliament.Legislative Power is vested in both the Govt. and the Parliament.
Singapore Parliament is Unicameral consisting of 87 Members elected on a Plurality Voting basis and represent either single-member constituencies (SMCs) or group Representation Constituencies (GRCs). In GRCs, political parties field a team of between three to six candidates. At least one candidate in the team must belong to a minority race.The maximum term of any one parliament is five years.
