Mehbooba Mufti, BJP Stake Claim To Form Government In Jammu And Kashmir Saturday March 26,2016

PDP Leader Mehbooba Mufti along with senior  BJP leader and party nominee for the post of Deputy CM,  Dr Nirmal Singh, jointly called on the Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhavan in Jammu on Saturday evening March 26,2016, stalking claim to form the coalition government. She was accompanied by senior party leaders Muzaffar Beigh and Tariq Hamid Karra.

Dr Nirmal Singh, who elected leader of the BJP legislature party on Friday, handed over his party’s letter of support to him. However, he was not accompanied by any other BJP leader.

During their nearly half-an-hour long meeting with the Governor, both the PDP and BJP leaders did not talk about the date for the swearing-in ceremony of their government.
“We have to discuss it with our coalition partners,” Mehbooba Mufti said, adding that “Beigh sahib and Nirmal Singh will sit together and finalise the date for the swearing-in.”

In the 89 member Legislative Assembly, PDP at present has 28 members including a nominated one


BJP’s has 26 members including a nominated MLA. Apart from it, BJP also enjoys the support of People’s Conference which has two MLAs and an independent from Udhampur.

National Conference has 15 members

Indian National Congress has 12 members

CPI(M) has 1 member
