Andhra Pradesh government 'names' Urdu university after a Pakistani scholar Moulvi Abdul Haq Moulvi Abdul Haq

The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday March 30,2016 introduced a Bill in the state Assembly on the proposed Urdu university in Kurnool naming it after a famous Pakistani scholar.

Human resources development minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao introduced the Moulvi Abdul Haq Urdu University Bill, 2016 seeking that the House adopt it.

 Moulvi Abdul Haq is a Pakistani scholar known as Baba-e-Urdu or father of Urdu for his contribution to the development of the language in the Indian sub-continent.

Though the Moulvi was born in British India and played a key role in the development of the syllabus of Osmania University in Hyderabad about a century ago, he migrated to Pakistan soon after partition.
