63rd National Film Awards Announced Monday March 28,2016

The 63rd National Awards for films were announced Monday March 28,2016 by the Information and Broadcasting ministry to honour the best films of 2015 in the Indian Cinema

Ramesh Sippy, chaired the 11-member jury for the selection of movies this year.

‘Baahubali’ wins Best Film
Directed by SS Rajamouli and released in 2015, ‘Bahubali’ became a global phenomenon in the purest sense of the word courtesy its mesmerizing visual appeal and compelling screenplay. Shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, the epic drama featured Prabhas in the lead role.

Amitabh Bachchan wins Best Actor
Amitabh Bachchan played AN irritable, hypochondriac Bhaskor Banerjee to perfection in Shoojit Sircar's 'Piku'

A slice of life film, Big B played father to Deepika Padukone's character

Kangana Ranaut wins Best Actress

The wonder woman of Bollywood may not have had that great a year as she had in 2014, but Kangana’s act as Kusum Sangwan in Anand L Rai’s ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ left an indelible impact on our minds.

From getting the right diction to having a different body language for the two distinct characters she played, Kangana outshone everyone in the film.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali wins Best Director for 'Bajirao Mastani'

There are a few things one has come to take for granted in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film: a stunning visual aesthetic, immaculately choreographed songs, and an imposing sense of scale. One couldn't help being overwhelmed by Sudeep Chatterjee’s eye-watering frames, and the elegant production design. Bhansali delivered a film that’s artistic, grand and compelling at the same time.
