Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday afternoon March 12,2016 formally inaugurated
the 4.5 km long rail-cum-road bridge at Bihar’s Digha-Sonepur stretch.
The ambitious project which took the government to complete almost after
12 years was initiated during the tenure of Prime Minister Atal Bihari
Vajpayee and when Nitish Kumar was Railway Minister.
While alleging the UPA government for delaying the project, PM Modi said
that the project was neglected for last 10 years when the UPA were in
power. “The rail-cum-road bridge in Hajipur could have been completed
for Rs 600 crore but due to the delay in project the cost exceeded to Rs
3000 crore,” Modi said while targeting the UPA government.
Around two lakh people gathered at the venue in Hajipur where PM Modi
visited Bihar almost five months of BJP’s humiliating defeat in Bihar
assembly elections of 2015
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with Ram Vilas Paswan and JD(U) Chief Sharad Yadav were also present at the venue
