Marlon Samuels, Carlos Brathwaite Knocks help West Indies to Stun England

Scorecard

West Indies won the toss and chose to field

England 155/9 in 20 Overs

West Indies 161/6 in 19.4 Overs(Target 156 Runs in 20 Overs)

Match Result -West Indies won by 4 Wickets

MOM - Marlon Samels for his 85*(66 Balls 4x9 and 6x2)

Carlos Brathwaite slammed four consecutive sixes off Ben Stokes to help West Indies seal a thrilling four-wicket win over England in the World T20 final. Marlon Samuels was the player of the match with a 66-ball 85* with 4x9 and 6x2

West Indies went into the last over needing 19 Runs to win and with expert death bowler Ben Stokes handed the ball, it looked like England would see out the win.
But Carlos Brathwaite who scored 34*(10 Balls 4x1 and 6x4)held his nerve to fire the Windies to an unlikely 4-wicket win with two balls to spare, leaving Stokes devastated on the field.

Man of the Match Marlon Samuels anchored the West Indies' run chase of 156 with an unbeaten 85, including nine boundaries and two sixes, after England had posted 155-9 in their 20 overs. It is to be noted that after being reduced to 11 for three, Samuels single-handedly kept the Caribbean team in the hunt

With this victory,West Indies became the first team to lift the World T20 twice - had won in 2012

Earlier West Indies' bowlers justified captain Darren Sammy's decision to field first as Samuel Badree and Andre Russell put England on the backfoot at only 23 for three in 4.4 overs.
Opening the attack for the Windies, leg-spinner Badree got Jason Roy clean out for a second ball duck and also accounted for struggling English skipper Eoin Morgan (5) in his third over.
Root (54), who struck his third half-century of the tournament, and Buttler (36) then came up with a fine re-building act to manage a 61-run fourth wicket partnership.

Marlon Samuels scored 78 out of his team's 137 in the  2012 ICC World Twenty 20 Vs Sri Lanka in Colombo

Marlon Samuels fine 30% of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct

Marlon Samuels of the West Indies was fined 30 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ICC World T20 final against England at the Eden Gardens on Sunday April 03,2016

Marlon Samuels, who was adjudged the man of the match for his unbeaten 66-ball 85, was found to have breached Article 2.1.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to "using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an International Match"

The incident happened in the final over of the West Indies' run-chase when Samuels used abusive and offensive language directed at England all-rounder Ben Stokes.

Marlon Samuels admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Ranjan Madugalle of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees and, as such, there was no need for a formal hearing.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Rod Tucker, third umpire Marais Erasmus and fourth umpire Bruce Oxenford, all from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees.

For all first offences, Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 % of a player's match fee.

2016 World Bipolar Day - March 30,2016

People around the world are marking World Bipolar Day Wednesday March 30,2016, a day set aside to raise awareness of the disorder and erase  the stigmatism of mental illness.

The annual event shines a light  on the plight of nearly 2 % of the world’s population living with the manic highs and dramatic lows in mood the disorder brings. It is held on the anniversary of the birth of Vincent   Van Gogh because it is believed the famous painter suffered from the disorder.

Bipolar disorder is a psychological disorder characterized by “manic” episodes, either preceding or following a time of a major  depression. Manic episodes are defined as experiencing a period of at least 1 week where you have “an elevated, expansive or unusually irritable mood, as well as notably persistent goal-directed activity,”

What are the types of bipolar disorder?

Bipolar I
A person affected by bipolar I disorder has had at least one manic episode in his or her life. A manic episode is a period of abnormally elevated mood, accompanied by abnormal behavior that disrupts life.
Bipolar II
Bipolar II is similar to bipolar I disorder, with moods cycling between high and low over time. However, in bipolar II disorder, the "up" moods never reach full-on mania.
Rapid Cycling
In rapid cycling, a person with bipolar disorder experiences four or more episodes of mania or depression in one year. About 10 percent to 20 percent of people with bipolar disorder have rapid cycling.
Mixed Bipolar
In most forms of bipolar disorder, moods alternate between elevated and depressed over time. But with mixed bipolar disorder, a person experiences both mania and depression simultaneously or in rapid sequence.
Cyclothymia
Cyclothymia (cyclothymic disorder) is a relatively mild mood disorder. People with cyclothymic disorder have milder symptoms than in full-blown bipolar disorder.

What are the symptoms?

The depression phase
Symptoms of a depressive episode may include:
• No interest in activities you once enjoyed
• Loss of energy
• Difficulty sleeping—either sleeping too much or not at all
• Changes in appetite—eating too much or too little
• Difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions
• Thoughts of death or suicide
The manic phase
Symptoms of a manic episode may include:
• Feelings of euphoria, abnormal excitement, or elevated mood
• Talking very rapidly or excessively
• Needing less sleep than normal, yet still having plenty of energy
• Feeling agitated, irritable, hyper, or easily distracted
• Engaging in risky behavior such as lavish spending, impulsive sexual encounters, or ill-advised business decision

'Bipolar disorder sixth leading cause of disability in the world'

What is bipolar disorder? Types of bipolar disorder -

Bipolar disorder is a mental illness characterized by periods of depression and periods of elevated mood.

It is when there are alternative episodes of mania or hypomania, and depression, so a high and a low phase.

Mania is an extreme elevated mood (not happiness, but abnormal euphoria), and hypomania is the same, but for lesser duration.

Bipolar disorder can be of many types such as:

Bipolar I disorder
Bipolar I disorder is characterized by one or more manic episodes or mixed episodes (symptoms of both a mania and a depression occurring nearly every day for at least one week) and one or more major depressive episodes. Bipolar I disorder is the most severe form of the illness marked by extreme manic episodes.
Bipolar II disorder
While bipolar I disorder is characterized by one or more manic episodes or mixed episodes and one or more major depressive episodes; bipolar II disorder is diagnosed after one or more major depressive episodes and at least one episode of hypomania, with possible periods of level mood between episodes. The highs in bipolar II, called hypomanias, are not as high as those in bipolar I (manias). Bipolar II disorder is sometimes misdiagnosed as major depression if hypomanic episodes go unrecognized or unreported.
Not Otherwise Specified (NOS)
Bipolar disorder that does not follow a particular pattern (for example, re-occuring hypomanic episodes without depressive symptoms, or very rapid swings between some symptoms of mania and some symptoms of depression) is called bipolar disorder Not Otherwise Specified (NOS).
Cyclothymia
Cyclothymia is a milder form of bipolar disorder characterized by several hypomanic episodes and less severe episodes of depression that alternate for at least two years. The severity of this illness may change over time.
Substance or medicine induced bipolar disorder
When the mood features are bought on by medication or substance abuse, the type of bipolar disorder is Substance or medicine induced bipolar disorder.
Rapid cycling (a feature)
Bipolar disorder with rapid cycling is diagnosed when a person experiences four or more manic, hypomanic, or depressive episodes in any 12-month period. Rapid cycling can occur with any type of bipolar disorder, and may be a temporary condition for some people.

Early signs of Bipolar disorder

The risk of suicide among those with bipolar disorder is high at greater than 6% over 20 years, while self-harm occurs in 30-40%. This is how severe bipolar disorder can get. If not diagnosed and treated in the early stages, bipolar disorder can lead to clinical illness and alcoholism. Psychologists and psychiatrists have claimed that approaching early signs of depression and mixed emotions can help prevent worse conditions. If a person shows the following signs, and it is not a part of their usual personality, then it is a warning sign. The most obvious sign is mood changes.

Some of the warning signs include:
For Mania: A long period of feeling "high," or an overly happy or outgoing mood
  • Extreme irritability
  • Behavioural changes
  • Talking very fast, jumping from one idea to another, having racing thoughts
  • Being easily distracted
  • Increasing activities, such as taking on new projects
  • Being overly restless
  • Sleeping little or not being tired
  • Having an unrealistic belief in one's abilities
  • Behaving impulsively and engaging in pleasurable, high-risk behaviour
For Depressive mood: An overly long period of feeling sad or hopeless
  • Loss of interest in activities once enjoyed, including sex
  • Behavioural changes
  • Feeling tired or "slowed down"
  • Having problems concentrating, remembering, and making decisions
  • Being restless or irritable
  • Changing eating, sleeping, or other habits
  • Thinking of death or suicide, or attempting suicide

What causes bipolar disorder and who gets it? How does it affect daily life?

Research suggests that there is a huge genetic component and there are some differences in the brain and its functionality, of those who have bipolar disorder. It also suggests that factors besides genes are also at work. It is likely that many different genes and environmental factors are involved. However, scientists do not yet fully understand how these factors interact to cause bipolar disorder.
This brain disorder causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and may cause inability to carry out day-to-day tasks
