The Polish presidential election is scheduled to be held on Sunday May 10,2015.
The president shall be elected directly by the people to serve for 5 years and can be reelected only once
.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution, the president must be elected by an absolute majority of valid votes; if no candidate succeeds in passing this threshold, a second round of voting is held with the participation of the two candidates who received the largest and second largest number of votes respectively.
In order to be registered as a candidate in the presidential election, one must be a Polish citizen, be at least 35 years old on the day of the first round of the election and collect at least 100,000 signatures of voters.
In total 23 candidates have registered with the State Electoral Commission and only 11 candidates submitted the required 100,000 signatures supporting their candidacy before the 26 March deadline
In the 2010 Polish Presidential Election as no candidate received a majority of votes in the first round, a second round was held and Bronislaw Komorowski(Independent Candidate supported by Civic Platform)defeated Jaroslaw Kaczynski(Law and Justice)securing 8933897 (53%)to the 7919134(47%) votes

Conservative challenger Andrzej Duda
will face President Bronislaw Komorowski in a run-off in Poland's
presidential election, an exit poll indicates.
Neither candidate will gain the 50% needed to win outright.
