The death toll increased to 89 in TS on Friday and 86 in AP. Most deaths in TS were recorded in Nalgonda (25), Khammam (17), Warangal (16) and Karimnagar (15). Krishna district in AP recorded 17 deaths, while 28 people in Nellore and Prakasam districts died till Friday. Official reports, however, from the two state governments stuck to the death toll at 21 in TS and 22 in AP.
Khammam recorded a blistering 47ºCelsius on Friday May 22,2015 as did other places of TS like Nizamabad, Nalgonda and Ramagundam.
In AP as well, unusually high temperatures were recorded in Vijayawada, Nandigama and Kavali. Vijayawada recorded a high of 45ºCelsius while the heat wave scorched Nandigama at 47 degrees Celsius.
Hyderabad temperatures also remained high at 43.6ºC on Friday May 22,2015 although many places reported higher temperatures. Meteorologists also said that temperatures of 47ºCelsius will continue to be recorded in both states over the next couple of days.
