Election Commission of India Announces Summary Revision of Rolls

The Election Commission of India has announced a special summary revision of electoral rolls of Assembly constituencies with January 1, 2014 as the qualifying date.

 ECI also announced a schedule in this regard -

• On Oct 1,2013 draft roll would be published

• From Oct 1- 31 claims, objections (inclusion, deletion, correction and change in address) would be held

• Reading of relevant part/section of photo electoral rolls in Grama Sabha/Local Bodies and RWA meeting and verification of names would be taken up between Oct 2- 5,2013

• Special campaign with booth level agents political parties for receiving claims and objections would be taken up on October 6, 20 and 27,2013

• The final publication of rolls would be done on January 6,2014

All those who are 18 years on January 1 next year are eligible to submit applications for inclusion of their names in the electoral roll. Applications could also be filled for deletion, correction, and change in the address within a constituency.

The electoral photo identity cards for those whose name are included would be given at a function to be held on the occasion of National Voters Day on January 25,2014 at polling station locations.
