Congress has put out its first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, with party chief Rahul Gandhi contesting his bastion Amethi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi contesting from her home turf, Rae Bareli.
Congress has also announced a few seats in Gujarat, including the Vadodara and Anand constituencies that are BJP strongholds.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Congress had managed to win only the two bastions of Amethi and Rae Bareli in UP that has 80 Parliamentary constituencies.
Congress has announced only 11 names from the crucial Uttar Pradesh where they are yet to announce if they are going for a tie-up with the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
