Gautam Gambhir on Monday stepped down as Delhi's Ranji Trophy captain.
Gambhir took to Twitter to announce his decision saying it was "time to pass the captaincy baton to youngsters".
"Time to pass the captaincy baton to youngsters, hence have requested the DDCA selectors not to consider me for that role. I will be in the background helping the new leader to win games," Gambhir tweeted.
Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) named Nitish Rana the new captain and Dhruv Shorey his deputy for the ongoing 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season.
