Taj Mahal waterlogged due to heavy rains in Agra

Heavy rains in Agra have caused waterlogging inside the Taj Mahal complex.

The rains have also led to the deaths of six people in Agra, which has seen torrential downpour in the last 24 hours.

An ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each has been announced for the families of the deceased.

With the estimated losses in the past two days from the rains mounting up to almost Rs 800 crores due to property and goods damaged, the Agra administration has ordered the schools in the district to remain closed on July 27 and 28

At several places, poorly rebuilt roads after digging trenches to lay down pipelines have given way, causing traffic jams.

A huge tree fell across the busy MG Road in the city, creating a blockade for several hours.

Collapsed walls of drains have also made the roads treacherous, prompting the administration to declare another day's off for schools.

The administration has issued a warning that a strong rainstorm could again lash Agra on Friday night July 27,2018

It has also advised that unless absolutely necessary, citizens should remain indoors and make necessary arrangements to keep water out of their houses and commercial establishments in case of flooding
