British Rule came to an end on Dec 10,1963 in Zanzibar and Pemaba
Tanganyika and Zanzibar joined to form Tanzania on April 26,1964
On Oct 29,1964, the country was renamed the United Republic of Tanzania ("Tan" comes from Tanganyika and "Zan" from Zanzibar)
