AAP Sets 18 Conditions for BJP, Cong Saturday Dec 14,2013
In a surprise move, Congress had extended unconditional
support of its eight MLAs to AAP for forming the next government.
Giving a new twist to government formation in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party
today set some conditions for Congress and BJP before it can decide on
forming a government, a move seen as attempts to fob off criticism that
it was running away from taking responsibility
While the single largest party BJP with 32 MLAs had declined to from the
government, the second largest party AAP with 28 seats has been saying
that it would not take from or give support to Congress and BJP in
government formation
Arvind Kejriwal questioned why the Congress and BJP were ready to extend their support to AAP, when his party had not asked for it.
"Nobody gives unconditional support to anyone without any reason. There
must be some reason that both parties are in a hurry to extend their
support to us for free, what are their intentions," he told
The 18 issues on which AAP has sought the views of Cong and BJP:
- To bring about an end to the VIP Culture in Delhi
- Passing of the Janlokpal Bill, the same version for which Anna Hazare held fasts.
- Swaraj in Delhi: People will take decision directly in 'mohalla sabhas', which will be held in every locality and colony.
- Complete statehood for Delhi. Central government's hold on DDA and Police should end.
- Special audit of all electricity companies in the national capital from the time these were privatised.
- Electricity meters should be checked.
- Availability of Water in Delhi
- Regularisation of unauthorised colonies.
- Clean and affordable 'pakka houses' (built up houses) to those living in slums.
- Support to give regular jobs to those working on contractual basis.
- Infrastructural facilities like roads, electricity, water and
basic facilities to the ordinary trader and simplification of VAT
system.
- No FDI in retail should be allowed in Delhi.
- Providing facilities and subsidies to farmers in the villages in the national capital.
- Opening 500 government schools, stopping donations in private schools and making the fee system transparent.
- Opening new government hospitals with better facilities.
- Special security units for women and all harassment cases need to be tackled within three months.
- Setting up enough courts and appointing judges so that all cases are dealt with within six months.
- Support from the municipal corporations on all these issues.
