Arvind Kejriwal, Ministers Take Oath Saturday Dec 28,2013

Arvind Kejriwal takes oath as the 7th Chief Minister of Delhi at historic Ramlila Maidan, the venue of Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement.

All the seven people who took oath as ministers in Delhi's new government, including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, wore their trademark white sidecaps emblazoned with the party's name on one side and slogans on other in Hindi saying "I seek full freedom" and "I seek self-rule" and "I am a common man".
All were dressed simply in pullover and trousers.

None wore formal suits or even jackets.

Earlier each of them had travelled like common commuters by Metro from their homes to the Ramlila Maidan, shunning the usual trappings of power like big cars and security cavalcade.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal gets crucial Power, Home, Finance, Planning and Vigilance portfolios. Manish Sisodia gets charge of Education and PWD Ministry in the Delhi government.
Rakhi Birla will head Women and Child Development Ministry, Social Justice and Languages
Somnath Bharti will handle Tourism, Law, Administrative reforms in the Delhi government.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal begins his first address by greeting the crowd with 'Inquilab Zindabad' and said -
"We have showed people that we can fight elections with honesty and can win too''
"We have come out to clean the politics. This is a miracle. I want to thank God for the success of our revolution''
"We are not concerned about the trust vote. If we do not get the trust vote we will come back to our people''
"Confident that India will become 'sone ki chidiya' again in the next 5 years''
"We are not here to attain power but to serve the country''

 "I am confident that Arvind and his team will do a good job," says Anna Hazare

BJP chief Rajnath Singh congratulated Kejriwal and the ministers for taking oath in Delhi. "I wish good luck to Arvind Kejriwal. I hope AAP with the support of Congress gives Delhi a stable Govt''

At 45 years four months and 14 days, Kejriwal who was born on August 16, 1968 in Haryana's Siwani will also become the youngest Chief Minister of Delhi State

From 26-year-old Birla to 41-year-old Sisodia, the Cabinet is not just going to be the youngest ever but also probably the first in which all members, including the Chief Minister, are debutant MLAs

Manish Sisodia,the 41-year-old journalist turned-activist-turned- politician defeated BJP's Nakul Bhardwaj by over 11,000 votes from Patparganj constituency in East Delhi.

Saurabh Bhardwaj(34)an engineering graduate who had also studied law defeated Ajay Kumar Malhotra, son of veteran BJP leader V K Malhotra, by a margin of around 13,000 votes from Greater Kailash constituency.

Somnath Bharti(39)holds a Master's degree from IIT, Delhi, and a degree in law,defeated BJP's Arti Mehra and another Delhi government minister Kiran Walia.

Rakhi Birla(26)had emerged as a giant killer after thumping four-time MLA and PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan in the Sheila Dikshit government in Mangolpuri by around 10,500 votes
Before joining AAP, Rakhi Birla had worked with a private news channel

Satendra Jain(49)an architect by profession got elected as MLA from Shakur Basti (North)

Girish Soni(49) had participated in Bijli-Pani agitation of AAP and motivated people to join the movement and got elected as an MLA from Madipur




Arvind Kejriwal(45)born in Haryana and a resident of Kausambi in nearby Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh, the IIT-Kharagpur graduate in Mechanical Engineering, had defeated three-time Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit in New Delhi constituency by a huge margin of over 25,000 votes

The Congress party was absent at the swearing-in ceremony

The BJP was represented by a section of its Delhi unit leaders, including the party's chief ministerial candidate in the recent polls, Dr Harsh Vardhan.

One-year-old AAP had made an electrifying debut in elections winning 28 seats in the 70-member Assembly and decimating Congress which bagged only eight seats
The BJP, along with its ally SAD's one seat, had 32 MLAs but the party declined to form the government, citing lack of majority.
