10 Wonders Of The Natural World

1) Amazon, South America
The Amazon Rainforest also known as the Amazon Jungle, is a moist broadleaf forest that covers most of the Amazon Basin of South America.This basin encompasses seven million square kilometers (1.7 billion acres), of which five and a half million square kilometers (1.4 billion acres) are covered by the rainforest.The majority of the forest is contained within Brazil, with 60% of the rainforest, followed by Peru with 13%, and with minor amounts in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.




2)Iguazu Falls, Argentina/Brazil
Iguazu Falls are waterfalls of the Iguazu River located on the border of the Brazilian State of Parana and the Argentine Province of Misiones.About half of the river's flow falls into a long and narrow chasm called the Devil's Throat. The Devil's Throat is U-shaped, 82-meter-high, 150-meter-wide, and 700-meter-long. The border between Brazil and Argentina runs through the Devil's Throat.


3)Table Mountain, South Africa
Table Mountain is a flat-topped mountain forming a prominent landmark overlooking the city of Cape Town,South Africa It is a significant tourist attraction with many visitors using the cableway or hiking to the top. The mountain forms part of the Table Mountain National Park.

 


4) Jeju Island, South Korea
Jejudo is a volcanic island, 130 km from the southern coast of Korea. The largest island and smallest province in Korea, the island has a surface area of 1,846 sqkm. A central feature of Jeju is Hallasan, the tallest mountain in South Korea and a dormant volcano, which rises 1,950 m above sea level

                                                         

 


5)Ha Long Bay, Vietnam
Ha Long Bay literally: "descending dragon bay" is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular travel destination, located in Quang Ninh Province,Vietnam.The bay features thousands of 'limestone karsts'(layers of soluble bedrock) and isles in various sizes and shapes.Ha Long Bay has an area of around 1,553 km2, including 1,960–2,000 islets, most of which are limestone.

 


6)Milford Sound, New Zealand
Milford Sound is a fjord( is a long, narrow inlet  with steep sides or cliffs, created in a valley carved by glacial activity) in the south west of New Zealand's South Island within Fiordland National Park, Piopiotahi (Milford Sound) Marine Reserve and Te Wahipounamu World Heritage Site and is acclaimed as New Zealand's most famous tourist destination.

7)Angel Falls, Venezuela
Angel Falls is the world's highest waterfall  with a height of 979 m (3,212 ft) and a plunge of 807 m (2,648 ft). The waterfall drops over the edge of the Auyantepui  mountain in the Canaima National Park,a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Gran Sabana Region of Bolivar State ,Venezuela.

 



8)Cliffs of Moher, Ireland
The Cliffs of Moher are located in the Parish of Liscannor  at the south-western edge of the Burren area near Doolin which is located in County Clare,Ireland. The Cliffs rise 120 meters (390 ft) above theAtlantic Ocean at Hag's Head  and reach their maximum height of 214 meters (702 ft) just north of O'Brien's Tower, eight kilometres away.

 


9)Grand Canyon, USA
The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided canyon( a deep ravine between cliffs often carved from the landscape by a river) carved by the Colorado River in the State of Arizona,USA.The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,000 feet / 1,800 metres)

 


10)Jeita Grotto, Lebanon 
The Jeita Grotto, situated in the Nahr al-Kalb valley within the locality of Jeita 18 kilometres (11 miles) north of the Lebanese Capital Beirut, is a system of two separate, but interconnected karstic limestone caves
spanning an overall length of nearly 9 kilometres (5.6 miles).Jeita Grotto is Lebanese National Symbol and a top tourist destination.
