Munich Air Disaster 1958 - Manchester United Pay Tribute to The Busby Babes

59 years ago on February 6, 1958 the football world witnessed one of the biggest tragedies in the history of the game.

Matt Busby's young team, champions of England in 1956 and 1957, died in the slush and snow of Munich after their twin-propped Elizabethan aircraft crashed on a third take-off attempt.
Twenty-three of the 44 passengers, including eight Manchester United players, died in the horrific accident.
United were travelling back after a game against Red Star Belgrade in Yugoslavia.
Led by legendary manager Sir Matt Busby, the team was known as 'Busby Babes'.
