David Warner Emulates Don Bradman With Test Century Before Lunch

David Warner slammed his 18th Test hundred and third at the Sydney Cricket Ground off 78 balls to reach three figures in just 117 minutes with 17 fours.

In doing so he became the first Australian since Don Bradman 87 years ago to make a century in the opening session on the first day and the only person to achieve the feat during a Test match in Australia.

The knock eclipsed  David Warner's previous fastest century at the SCG -- off 82 balls in last year's Test against the West Indies

David Warner was out after lunch, caught behind off Wahab Riaz for 113 off 95 balls with 17 fours.

Earlier at SCG on the New Year David Warner had scored  101 Vs India in 2015 and 122* Vs West Indies in 2016 101 vs India in 2015 and 122* vs WI in 2016

Don Bradman was the last to do so with 105 in Leeds in 1930 on his way to 334, with fellow Australians Victor Trumper hitting 103 in Manchester in 1902 and Charlie Macartney scoring 112 at Leeds in 1926.

The only other player to post a century before lunch on the first day of a Test was Pakistan's Majid Khan (108) against New Zealand in Karachi in 1976.

David Warner (113) and Matt Renshaw (167*) put Australia in commanding position with two brilliant tons on Day 1

After Steve Smith opted to bat first, David Warner looked in a different mood as he went on to become the only fifth batsman in the history of Test cricket to reach a century before lunch.

David Warner who had scored 144 runs against Pakistan in second Test at Melbourne, continued from where he had left, although in a different gear.
David Warner accelerated the pace of the innings in the second over where he dispatched Imran Khan for two consecutive boundaries. There was no looking back from there on for him, as he didn't take his foot off the pedal.
In sublime rhythm, Warner reached his century off just 78 balls, which came in the 27th over. Soon after he reached his ton, Wahab Riaz got visitors the much-needed breakthrough as Warner nicked one behind the wicket off a fuller delivery at the score of 113.
After Warner's dismissal, Renshaw and Usman Khawaja (13) added 52 runs for the second wicket after which the latter became Riaz's second victim.

Skipper Steve Smith (24) played some delightful strokes during his short stay at the crease, but ended up edging one behind the wicket while trying to play a cut shot off Yasir Shah's bowling
At stumps, Australia were 365/3 after 88 overs when play was stopped due to poor light with Matt Renshaw 167* and Peter Handscomb 40* at the crease

Australia Crush Pakistan By 220 Runs In Sydney Test, Sweep Series 3-0

Australia clinched a series clean sweep with an emphatic 220-run win over Pakistan
Pakistan  lost four wickets in the first session after resuming at 55/1
Azhar Ali lasted just six balls into the final day before he was out in a soft dismissal on his overnight score of 11.

He tried to work Josh Hazlewood to the leg-side only to bunt the ball back to the bowler for an easy return catch.
Azhar finished as the highest Pakistan runscorer in a series in Australia with 406 at 81.20.
Babar Azam followed in Hazlewood's next over, trapped leg before wicket for nine to end a disappointing series with a total of just 68 runs from six innings.

Pakistan were all out shortly before tea on the final day for 244 chasing 465 runs with paceman Josh Hazlewood and spinner Steve O'Keefe both snaring three wickets.
Pakistan's hopes of holding out for a draw evaporated with the dismissals of leading series runscorer Azhar Ali and veteran Younis Khan before lunch.
Younis Khan's career tally after the Sydney Test is 9977 Runs. He was 36 short of becoming the first Pakistani batsman to 10,000 when he walked out to bat in the second innings but fell for 13.
Wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed topscored with a fighting unbeaten 72 off 70 balls.
Australia completed a series clean sweep after a 39-run win at the Gabba and an innings and 18-run victory in Melbourne.

It was Pakistan's 12th straight defeat since their last Test win in Australia in Sydney 22 years ago.
