Jennifer Lawrence makes her US chart debut with haunting Hunger Games track

Flying high: Jennifer Lawrence has scored her first UK charts hit with The Hanging Tree, a track from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1
Jennifer Lawrence won an Academy Award at the tender age of 21.

And now Jennifer Lawrence has set her sights on the music world.

Jennifer Lawrence(24) has made her debut on the US music charts with a haunting song she recorded for Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

The song, called Hanging Tree, landed at number 12 on this week's Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

The folksy track, which appears on the film's official soundtrack, is written by The Lumineers.

Jennifer now finds herself just behind the likes of pop star Taylor Swift, who was number one for a third week running for her song Blank Space, and Maroon 5, who took the fifth spot for Animals.

Hanging Tree made it onto the UK music charts last week, and reached number eight on the midweek iTunes countdown, despite it not being officially released as a single
