BCCI President N Srinivasan had said that he will relieve himself from his duties until September 30, 2013 during which time former ICC president Jagmohan Dalmiya will take over as the interim chief - a provision, however, that does not exist within the BCCI constitution. This statement came after an Emergency Board Meeting in Chennai on Sunday June 02,2013
In an email released by the BCCI's Honorary Secretary, Anurag Thakur, who was not present in Chennai but communicated via video conference, the board stated: "Mr N Srinivasan announced that he will not discharge his duties as the president of the board till such time that the probe is completed. Till such time, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya will conduct the day to day affairs of the board. The committee expressed full confidence in Mr. Sanjay Jagdale and Mr Ajay Shirke and requested them to withdraw their resignations in the larger interest of the board."
