on Thursday June 20,2013
Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal, State Ministers, Chief Secretary Sheela Balakrishnan, PWD Secretary M Saikumar and top officials took part in the inaugural ceremony.
The arch is 54 feet tall and 108 feet wide and is constructed with grandeur and majesty blended with modern architectural features that would be befitting the historic glory of Fort St George as well as the War Memorial
The Chief Minister made an announcement on construction of the arch on October 8, 2012 and laid foundation for it on October 29, 2012 and the arch has been constructed within a short span
The cost of the structure is `1.33 crore. President Pranab Mukherjee presided over the diamond jubilee celebrations of the State Assembly on November 30,2012
