2012-13 FA Cup

The Football Association Challenge Cup, commonly known as the FA Cup, is a knockout Cup Competition in English Football and is the oldest Association Football Competition in the World(was first held in 1871-72) 

The 2012–13 FA Cup is the 132nd season of the FA Cup.The preliminary rounds commenced on Aug 11,2012, with the first round proper played on Nov 3, 2012. The Final will be contested on 11 May 2013 at Wembley Stadium  in London

Its Current Sponsored Name is the FA Cup with Budweiser.The Competition is a knockout tournament with pairings for each round drawn at random.There are a total of 14 rounds in the competition – six qualifying rounds, followed by six "proper", plus the semi-finals and the final.

Three clubs have won consecutive FA Cups on more than one occasion -

1)Wanderers(1872, 1873 and 1876, 1877, 1878)

2)Blackburn Rovers (1884, 1885, 1886 and 1890, 1891)and

3)Tottenham Hotspur (1961, 1962 and 1981, 1982)

The FA Cup has only been won by a non-English team once.Cardiff City achieved this in 1927 when they beat Arsenal in the final at Wembley

3)Chelsea (defeats Manchester United 1-0)

Demba Ba sent Chelsea into the FA Cup semi-finals with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Monday April 1,2013 keeping his team on course for a fifth FA Cup triumph in seven seasons

 

 

 

 

 

 

The win puts Interim Chelsea Manager Rafa Benitez, who is only under contract until the end of the season, closer to getting a trophy to show for his short spell at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea will now play Manchester City on April 14 at Wembley, a day after Wigan take on Millwall in the other semi-final.

The 2012 FA Cup Final (was the 131st final of the FA Cup) played between Chelsea Vs Liverpool at the Wembley Stadium,London

 

 

Chelsea won the final defeating Liverpool 2–1, claiming their 4th FA Cup Title in 6 years.Ramires(Brazil)(in 11th Minute) 

 

and Drogba(in 52nd Minute) scored for Chelsea

 

 and Carroll(64th) scored for Liverpool.

 

 

 

 

Liverpool and Chelsea had previously met 9 times in the FA Cup, including two semi-finals although they had never met in the final before. Chelsea had the upper hand in those 9 meetings, winning 5 times to Liverpool's 4; however, Liverpool won both semi-finals between the two clubs, both on neutral grounds.
