Arunachal Pradesh got Statehood on Feb 20,1987, 25 years back.
Till 1972, Arunachal Pradesh – the ‘Land of Rising Sun’ – was known as NEFA (North East Frontier Agency). It attained the Union Territory status on Jan 20, 1972 before becoming the full-fledged State of the Indian Union.
To commemorate the D-day, a five-day ‘Festival of Arunachal’ is being held at Indira Gandhi Park here. Union Defence Minister A K Antony will inaugurate the festival.
