Queen Elizabeth Celebrates 60th Anniversary Of Historic Accession Day



After 60 years of loyal service to the nation and Commonwealth, the Queen celebrates her Diamond Jubilee on Monday Feb 06,2012.The Queen, now in her 85th year, has remained true to her pledge and dedicated herself to the nation and beyond.During her reign she has seen 11 prime ministers come and go with David Cameron her 12th, while Barack Obama is the 12th US president to hold office over the same period.



Houses of Parliament address Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

 

As part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Queen Elizabeth II addresses on Tuesday March 20,2012 both Houses of Parliament inside London's Westminister Hall and pays tribute to the British virtues of 'resilience, ingenuity and tolerance', and the Duke of Edinburgh, her 'constant strength and guide' over the decades.

The presentation of Addresses on March 20, 2012 is the 8th occasion on which Addresses have been presented in Westminster Hall.
1) The first such occasion was in 1935, to mark the Silver Jubilee of King George V.
2) opening of the new Commons Chamber in 1950
3)the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977
4) the 300th anniversary of the Glorious Revolution in 1988
5) the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II in 1995and
6) the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002








Queen Elizabeth acceded to the throne as a young woman following the death of her father, George VI, on February 6 1952.


February 6 - Accession Day - will be celebrated simply by a visit to King's Lynn Town Hall and the nearby Dersingham Infant and Nursery School.
Her 60 years as queen will be marked by a series of regional, national and international events during 2012, culminating in a four-day long Bank Holiday weekend in June 2012.
