Match Result            Australia won by 48 Runs
MOM                        David Warner(Australia)for his 166(147 Balls 4x14 and 6x5)

Australia managed to post a big score at a venue, that in recent times has allowed for such run-making, was due to a strong performance by their top order - David Warner (166), Aaron Finch (53) and Usman Khawaja (89), followed by Glenn Maxwell's brief blitz (10-ball 32), after they elected to bat. Bangladesh's bowling, on the other hand, fell short of skills to outwit Australia on a wicket that didn't offer much to them even as it was slightly slow compared to the conventional Trent Bridge surface.

With Soumya Sarkar departing early, courtesy a mix-up in running, Bangladesh relied on approaching the target in a steady manner. There were a couple of handy contributing hands to that in the top order: Tamim Iqbal (74-ball 62) and Shakib (41-ball 41) lending the base, followed by Mushfiqur who brought up his fifty in 55 balls. However, Bangladesh failed to go a gear higher. At the end of the 25th over, they were 146 for 3, 177 for 4 in 30, 208 for 4 in 35 and 245 for 4 in 40: all ranging around run-a-ball.

On a day when Shakib Al Hasan failed to score a fifty - for the first time in the 2019 World Cup - Bangladesh's batting only managed to stretch the chase but at no point went ahead in the contest before eventually falling 48 runs short of Australia's 381. This, despite some sloppy fielding by Australia.
