2019 Tamil Nadu Lok Sabha Election Thursday April 18,2019

Elections for the 38 of the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu are being held in a single phase on Thursday April 18,2019

 The Election Commission of India(ECI) had decided to cancel polls in the Vellore constituency.

Tamil Nadu also sends 18 members to the Rajya Sabha

The state of Tamil Nadu is divided into five regions, namely the Upper North Tamil Nadu, North Central Tamil Nadu, West Tamil Nadu, Cauvery Delta, South Tamil Nadu.

There are a total of 5.89 crore eligible voters in Tamil Nadu, of which 2.92 crore are male, 2.98 crore are female and 5,461 voters of the other gender.

In the election  the lead front-runners are -

  AIADMK-led alliance which includes the BJP, PMK, and DMDK among others and
 DMK led alliance which includes the Congress, VCK, MDMK, and the Left parties

The Dhinakaran-led AMMK, Naam Thamilar Katchi, and actor-turned-politician Kamal Hassan’s Makkal Neethi Mayyam(MNM) are also in the fray.

AIADMK is contesting in 20 seats and its allies BJP in 5 seats;PMK in 7 seats and DMDK in 4 seats and other allies 3 seats

The constituencies where the AIADMK will field its candidates are: Tiruvallur, South Chennai, Kancheepuram, Arani, Tiruvannamalai, Chidambaram, Krishnagiri, Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, Pollachi, Karur, Mayiladuthurai, Perambalur, Nagapattinam, Madurai, Theni and Tirunelveli.

The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), which has returned to the AIADMK fold after 10 years, will field its candidates in seven constituencies: Sriperumpudur, Dharmapuri, Central Chennai, Cuddalore, Arakkonam, Villupuram and Dindigul.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a major player in stitching up the alliance in the State, will face the electorate of five seats: Kanniyakumari, Sivaganga, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore and Ramanathapuram.

The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), which aligned with the AIADMK after a gap of eight years, will contest in four constituencies: North Chennai, Kallakurichi, Tiruchi and Virudhunagar.

The Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar), the Puthiya Tamizhagam (PT) and the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) will field its nominees in Thanjavur, Tenkasi and Puducherry respectively.



DMK is contesting in 20 seats;Congress in 9 seats;VCK in 2 seats;CPI in 2 seats ;CPI(M) in 2 seats;MDMK in 1 seat ;IUML 1 seat;IJK 1 seat and KMDK 1 seat
