Kolkata was hammered by Mumbai in their last encounter as the Rohit Sharma-led side registered a thumping 102-run victory over them. Punjab too, suffered a narrow 15-run loss to Rajasthan Royals in their last outing
While Punjab are placed third with 12 points in their kitty, Kolkata are fifth in the league table with 10 points.

Kings XI made three changes to the side that lost its last game to Rajasthan Royals, with Mayank Agarwal, Aaron Finch and Barinder Sran coming in for Akshdeep Nath, Manoj Tiwary and Marcus Stoinis. The changes left them with a shortened batting line-up, with allrounder Axar Patel expected to slot in at No. 6, and six genuine bowling options.
KKR made two changes to the side that lost its last game to Mumbai Indians. They handed the Bajan seamer Javon Searles an IPL debut in place of Tom Curran, and brought back Shubman Gill - who missed the last game with an injury - for Rinku Singh

The first 20 balls of this match gave no warning of what was to follow. Only 20 runs came off them, and two boundaries - both inside-edged past the stumps by Chris Lynn
It was as if Narine had flicked a switch. Having scored only seven off his first eight balls, he would smash 68 off his next 28, most of them with loose-limbed lofts in the midwicket-to-cover arc.
With Lynn and Uthappa contributing 51 off 34 between them, KKR moved to 123 for 1 by the end of the 11th over.
When Narine fell to an Andrew Tye short ball in the 12th over, Russell walked to the crease. Karthik joined him when Uthappa fell two balls later, slicing a slower ball to backward point.
Russell and Karthik hit five big sixes between them, all in the arc between square leg and midwicket, but they also hit six fours and a six behind the wicket, mindful that Ashwin had stationed both third man and fine leg inside the 30-yard circle for most part.
KKR boasted far more depth, and almost all their batsmen fired
Chasing 246 with a line-up that had Axar Patel at No. 6, Kings XI were even more dependent on their openers than usual. KL Rahul kept them hoping with a 29-ball 66, but by the time he was dismissed in the ninth over, the batsmen at the other end (and extras) had only made 27 for 3 off 25 balls.
Kings XI didn't quite have the batting to chase 153 off the last 11 overs, and though there was some furious hitting from Aaron Finch and R Ashwin towards the end, it was never going to be enough.

Kolkata Knight Riders got their IPL campaign back on track as they trounced Kings XI Punjab by 31 runs in Indore on Saturday May 12,2018
After being put in to bat first, KKR batsmen Sunil Narine gave his team a rousing start and smashed 75 from just 36 balls to take the team to 245/6 in 20 overs.
This is KKR’s highest-ever total in the tournament, their previous best being 222/3 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2008.
It was not just KKR batsmen who stole the show.
While chasing the mammoth target, Punjab batsmen gave it their best to cross the finish line but their innings ended at 214 runs.
Opener KL Rahul continued his blistering form and smashed 66 runs from just 29 balls. Skipper R Ashwin too shone with the bat and hit 45 runs in just 22 balls.
The run-fest at Indore meant that 459 runs were scored in 40 overs during this match.
This is the second-highest match aggregate in IPL history.
At top of the table is the match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in 2010, where 469 runs were scored.
That’s not it. As many as 32 sixes were hit in the match. Again, it is the second most sixes hit in an IPL match. 33 sixes were hit during this year’s match between CSK and RCB, which the former won.
