2017-18 FA Cup Final Chelsea Vs Manchester United Saturday May 19,2018

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head
  • These sides have met in the FA Cup final on two previous occasions - Chelsea won the 2007 final 1-0 (after extra-time) while in 1994 United won 4-0.
  • The 2007 final was the first FA Cup final to be played at the rebuilt Wembley and current United boss Mourinho was in charge of Chelsea.
  • This is the eighth meeting in all competitions between these sides at Wembley, no two sides have met more often at the home of football.
Chelsea
  • Chelsea have won the FA Cup on seven occasions. The Blues are appearing in their 13th FA Cup final and an eighth victory would take them joint third on the all-time list with Tottenham.
  • The Blues were beaten FA Cup finallists last season, losing 2-1 to Arsenal with current United forward Alexis Sanchez among the Gunners scorers.
  • They have reached successive finals for the first time since 2009 and 2010, but Antonio Conte could become the first manager to lose consecutive FA Cup finals since Howard Kendall with Everton in 1985 and 1986.
  • Olivier Giroud has had a hand in 22 goals in 26 FA Cup appearances since January 2012, with 15 goals and seven assists, more than any other player in the competition during that period.
Manchester United
  • United have won 12 FA Cup titles and are appearing in a record-equalling 20th final. A 13th FA Cup win would see them equal Arsenal's record tally.
  • The Reds have conceded just one goal in the competition this season.
  • Jose Mourinho is appearing in his sixth major domestic final in England (two FA Cup, four League Cup), winning each of his previous five.
  • Romelu Lukaku has scored five goals in the FA Cup this season and 12 in his last 12 in the competition.
  • Alexis Sanchez has scored five goals in his four FA Cup games at Wembley, including the winning goals in both of his semi-final appearances and Arsenal's first goal in last year's final.
  • He has scored eight goals in eight appearances for club and country at Wembley.
Chelsea beat Manchester United 1- 0 to win the title

Eden Hazard's first-half penalty decided the FA Cup final in Chelsea's favour at Wembley to leave Jose Mourinho and Manchester United empty-handed this season.

In what is still widely expected to be Chelsea manager Antonio Conte's final game in charge, the Blues withstood a second-half onslaught from United after Hazard's 22nd-minute spot-kick to ensure Jose Mourinho's men end the season trophyless

  • Mourinho has lost his first cup final in charge of an English club, after winning each of the previous six (four League/EFL Cups, one FA Cup, one Europa League).
  • Chelsea have won their eighth FA Cup and their first since 2012, taking them level with Tottenham - only Man Utd (12) and Arsenal (13) have won more.
  • Seven of the past 10 FA Cup winners have been London clubs (Chelsea winning four, Arsenal three).
  • Antonio Conte has tasted success in a domestic cup final for the first time in three attempts as a manager, after losing with Juventus against Napoli in the 2012 Coppa Italia, and the 2017 FA Cup with Chelsea against Arsenal.
  • United's defeat means they have won in just one of their past four FA Cup final appearances.
  • Mourinho's side mustered 18 shots in the game; they last attempted more shots without scoring in a match in all competitions in October 2016 (38 in a 0-0 Premier League draw against Burnley).
  • Eden Hazard's penalty was the first scored in an FA Cup final (excluding shootouts) since Ruud van Nistelrooy for Manchester United against Millwall in 2004.
