While Akshay Kumar was promoting his film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha,
he opened up about the issue of open defecation like never before. His
wife Twinkle Khanna once tweeted about how her morning walk was ruined
because of people defecating in the open. The duo did all this to
highlight this major problem, but received flak because the fans thought
it was a publicity gimmick for their upcoming film.
Proving them all wrong and taking a stand for the issue even after the release of the film, Akshay Kumar has sponsored toilets worth Rs. 10 lakhs at Juhu Beach.
For this initiative, Akshay teamed-up with Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray.
The toilets have bio-digester so there will be no stink. The toilets
will bring a lot of relief to not just the local slum dwellers, but also
to visitors,” Assistant Municipal Commissioner, K-West ward, Prashant
Gaikwad told
