Commerce and industries minister Suresh Prabhu was on Saturday March 10,2018 given
the additional charge of the civil aviation ministry, a day after the
president accepted the resignation of Ashok Gajapathi Raju, the
president of India’s handle on micro blogging site Twitter said.
“As advised by the Prime Minister, #PresidentKovind has directed that Shri Suresh Prabhu, cabinet minister, shall be assigned charge of the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, in addition to his existing portfolio,” the tweet from the Indian President’s handle @rashtrapatibhvn said.
On the evening of 7 March, a day before Wings India 2018 was scheduled to begin, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced the withdrawal of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ministers Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Y.S. Chowdhary from the Union cabinet, over disagreements with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
Raju had on 9 March said on a tweeter post that the Indian domestic aviation market became the third largest in the world, from ninth position in 2014.
“I will always cherish my stint in the aviation sector. May India continue to fly high!,” he said on twitter
