2017 Madrid Open Men's Singles - Rafael Nadal beats Nick Kyrgios, enters QF's Thursday May 11,2017
Rafael Nadal delighted the home crowd by making light work of his third-round Madrid Open tennis match against Nick Kyrgios on Thursday, winning 6-3, 6-1.
What looked set to be a mouth-watering clash between two in-form players failed to live up to the hype, with Rafael Nadal’s dominant display making for a one-sided encounter.
It was a familiar story for Nick Kyrgios, though, who seemed to lose motivation and desire when the first set started to get away from him and the 14-time major winner took full advantage to set up a quarter-final with David Goffin.
The controversial Australian did show some early fight, however. After being broken in game four when Rafael Nadal’s return clipped the net and bounced in, he hit straight back with a forehand winner.
