The Security Council on Monday Dec 19,2016 voted unanimously to adopt a resolution that calls on the United Nations to deploy monitors to eastern Aleppo,Syria
The resolution would allow the U.N. to immediately dispatch some 113 monitors to evacuation points in eastern Aleppo as well as areas in the city where the government has taken control
The resolution calls for UN officials and others to be able to monitor evacuations from eastern Aleppo and the safety of civilians who remain in the Syrian city.
The 15-member council resolution "demands all parties to provide these monitors with safe, immediate and unimpeded access".
