An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter Scale hit West Java
province in Indonesia on Wednesday Oct 19,2016, but no tsunami alert was issued, the
meteorology and geophysics agency said.
The epicentre was determined at 120 km northeast Subang of the province with the depth at 654 km under sea bed, Xinhua news agency quoted an official of the agency as saying.
"We did not issue a tsunami warning," the official said.
The agency revised downward the magnitude of the quake to 6.3 immediately after it stated that it was at 6.5 magnitude, he added.
The USGS reported the quake was at 6.2 magnitude.
Indonesia is prone to quake as it sits on a vulnerable quake hit-zone called "the Pacific Ring of Fire".
