Mysurpa, the melting delicacy from south India, would just have remained another home-made sweet, but for the efforts taken by Coimbatore-based Sri Krishna Sweets in taking it to global heights. It recently set a world record by selling 13,188.296 kg of this single sweet in three hours.
This happened on September 20, 2016 which the company observes as Mysurpa Day in fond memory of its founder late NK Mahadeva Iyer.
The practice of observing September 20 as Mysurpa day started in 1998 and since then, the company has not looked back
Further claiming that it is the only company to have set
a world record for such an activity, Sri Krishna Sweets Chief Operating
Officer Hemant said that it was only after the event that the company
even took cognisance of its feat and applied for world record
recognition.
The sweets major had prepared close to
14 tonnes of Mysurpa for that special day against the normal daily
volume of 2 to 3 tonnes. There was no prior booking, he added.
Unique World Records represented by its Editor Sababi
Mangal, adjudicator for Elite World Record — Karthikeyan Jawahar, AK
Senthil Kumar representing Asian Records Academy, P Jeganathan, Records
Manager at India Records Academy, and L Raj Krishna, Records Manager,

certifying Sri Krishna Sweets for the World Record.
The adjudicators, after almost 12 hours scrutiny of the records, said that the company deserved the recognition.
