Choosing to bat first and picking three frontline spinners on a slow turner, India overwhelmed New Zealand by 190 runs in the deciding fifth ODI in Visakhapatnam, with Amit Mishra picking up five wickets to send the visitors crashing to 79 all out.
In the end, New Zealand only lasted 23.1 overs; it was their shortest-ever innings while being bowled out in an ODI(The previous shortest was 24.4 overs against Pakistan in Singapore in 2000.)

Virat Kohli's tally is the third highest by any batsman in a bilateral series vs New Zealand in ODIs -- the highest being Desmond Haynes (WI) - 404 (ave.134.66) in five matches in the West Indies in 1984-85.
Virat Kohli has managed 399 runs in four innings at an average of 99.75 at this venue -- the most registered by him in any home venue in ODIs. His innings being 118 vs Australia on October 20, 2010, 117 vs West Indies on December 2,2011, 99 vs West Indies on November 24, 2013 and 65 vs New Zealand on October 29, 2016.
Apart from Virat Kohli, no other player has recorded more than two fifty-plus innings at this venue.
Amit Mishra's tally of 15 wickets (ave.14.33) is the highest by any bowler vs New Zealand in a five-ODI bilateral series. Darren Gough had taken 13 wickets (ave.14.38) for England in New Zealand in 2001-02 and Sunil Narine had bagged 13 at 11.23 runs apiece for West Indies in West Indies in 2012.
Amit Mishra is the only Indian bowler to bag 15 wickets in a bilateral series twice -- his best being 18 (ave.11.61) in five matches vs Zimbabwe in 2013. This performance is the best by an Indian bowler in a five-ODI bilateral series vs New Zealand.
Amit Mishra's figures of 5 for 18 are the best by an Indian bowler vs New Zealand in ODIs, surpassing the 5 for 27 by Krish Srikkanth at Visakhapatnam on December 10, 1998.
Amit Mishra has recorded two five-wicket hauls -- his career-best being 6 for 48 vs Zimbabwe at Bulawayo in 2013.

Amit Mishra has deservingly got his first Player of the series award in ODIs. His 5 for 18 earned him his third Man of the Match award in ODIs. His first two awards in ODIs were against Zimbabwe in 2013.
Tom Latham's aggregate of 244 runs (ave.61.00) in five matches is the highest by a New Zealand batsman in an ODI series vs India in India. Nathan Astle had scored 234 runs (ave.46.80) in five matches in 1999-2000.
For the second time, five ducks have been recorded in New Zealand's innings -- the first instance vs Pakistan at Auckland on February 17, 2001.
