India and Australia are set to clash in an ODI and Twenty20 International series beginning on January 12. The series comprises of five ODIs and 3 Twenty20s. The last time the two teams met on field was for the 2015 World Cup semifinals.

Usman khawaja replaces David Warner for the 2nd and 3rd ODI's

Usman Khawaja has been drafted into the Australian squad for the second and third ODIs against India as cover for David Warner, who goes on paternity leave. Warner and his wife Candice are expecting their second child very soon

Four of Usman Khawaja 's last seven innings in Test and Big Bash League cricket have been hundreds. He hit them back-to-back against New Zealand in Brisbane and Perth, but missed out on the Day-Night Test in Adelaide with a hamstring injury. A century in the BBL on his return proved there was no lingering discomfort and then plundered 144 and 56 in the Melbourne Test against West Indies a few days later.

Rohit Sharma is the 12th Indian batsman to amass 5000 runs or more in ODIs

Rohit Sharma became the seventh Indian batsman to register an innings of 99 in ODIs, joining Virender Sehwag (99 not out), Kris Srikkanth, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar (thrice) and

Manish Pandey, playing his fourth ODI, weathered that moment and pushed on to his highest and best innings for India.

Manish Pandey’s unbeaten 104 off 81 balls is his maiden century in ODIs. He became just the second Indian player to post a hundred at SCG in a winning cause. Sachin Tendulkar was the first to do so – 117 not out off 120 balls on March 2, 2008.

India have recorded their second win in 16 matches over Australia at SCG (lost 13 and No-result one). Their previous triumph over Australia at this venue was by 6 wickets on March 2, 2008.

India was the first side to successfully chase a score of 300 or more vs Australia in Australia in ODIs is India. West Indies’ 284 for 3 at Brisbane on January 5, 1997 was the previous highest successful chase

India’s above score is their third highest successful chase in ODIs next only to the 362 for one at Jaipur on October 16, 2013 and 351 for four at Nagpur on October 30, 2013 – both against Australia
