2015 Delhi Assembly Election - AAP heading for a landslide win Tuesday Feb 10,2015

 

 Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) is now leading in 62 of Delhi's 70 seats, a clean sweep for the broom.The AAP swept all across the capital, including both in the middle class areas and low income neighbourhoods, virtually decimating the BJP

The defeat for BJP was all the more bitter because it had won all the seven Lok Sabha seats in the May  2014 Lok Sabha Election

The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday appeared to be on its way to recapture power in the national capital with the party leading in more than 60 constituencies against BJP and Congress.

In 2013 polls, AAP had got 28 seats, BJP 31 and Congress in 8 seats

All exit polls gave AAP a decisive edge over the Bharatiya Janata Party, with one of them predicting the 'jhadoo' would get 53 seats in the 70-member House

 Final results gave Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just 3 seats. India's main opposition Congress party failed to win a single constituency and AAP winning 67 out of the 70 seats
  
The AAP won 67 of the 70 seats, or nearly 96 % of the votes polled and its performance is by far the best ever in the State

  • Mustafabad  - Jagdish Pradhan beats Hasan Ahmed(INC)by 6031 votes
  • Rohini -Vijendar Kumar beats C L Gupta(AAP)  by 5367 votes
  • Viswas Nagar -Om Prakash Sharma beats Dr Atul Gupta(AAP)by 10158 votes
As many as 63 of the 70 Congress candidates, including senior leaders Ajay Maken, Kiran Walia, Haroon Yousuf and Yoganand Shastri, forfeited their deposit in the Delhi Assembly polls, which witnessed AAP’s landslide victory.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also swept the majority of the Muslim-dominated seats that were Congress strongholds in Delhi for the last two decades. These include Okhla, Ballimaran, Matia Mahal, Seelampur and Mustafabad. 
While the Mustafabad seat went to the BJP, the other four rested with the AAP. 
The most prominent of these seats is Matia Mahal, where Congress strongman Shoaib Iqbal lost to AAP’s Asim Ahmed Khan with a margin of over 26,000 votes.

The BJP's campaign was essentially anti-AAP and the party leaders often criticised Arvind Kejriwal at their rallies and road shows.
Arvind Kejriwal, meanwhile, conducted an energetic campaign which proved popular with working class and underprivileged voters who make up 60% of Delhi's population.

Arvind Kejriwal munched on namkeen and told NDTV that he had "no nervous moments at all as we knew people were with us."

"This is the peoples victory," Arvind Kejriwal said, adding that his first priority would be to end "rishvatkhori (bribery)" and "VIP culture."

Speaking to reporters, Ajay Maken said, “I congratulate the Aam Aadmi Party. People's verdict is above all.”
Ajay Maken further expressed hope that Arvind Kejriwal would fulfil all the promises he has made.
“I hope the promises which they have made, they fulfil those... bring those dreams to reality,” Ajay Maken said.
“For democracy's sake, I sincerely hope he fulfils the promises.”

Trinamool Congress(TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee today termed it as a "turning point" in India's current political landscape and a big defeat for those indulging in vendetta politics.

"This is a victory for the people and a big defeat for the arrogant and those who are doing political vendetta & spreading hate among people," the West Bengal Chief Minister tweeted.
In another tweet, she said, "Delhi election is turning point of present political situation.
