In keeping
with a 24-year-old ritual, the Governments in New Delhi and Islamabad
exchanged lists of each other’s nuclear facilities on Thursday Jan 01,2015
The
exchange has been an annual feature of bilateral ties since the signing
of the Agreement on Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations
and Facilities - sealed in 1988 and enforced on January 1, 1992 - which
was devised to keep the nations from targeting each other’s nuclear
infrastructure
Thursday
Jan 01,2015 also saw the countries exchange a list of civilian prisoners in each
other’s jails, a biannual ritual carried out in keeping with a 2008
bilateral accord known as the ‘Agreement on Consular Access between
India and Pakistan’.
The
agreement calls on India and Pakistan to exchange twice every year - on
January 1 and July 1- the names of each other’s civilians they hold in
their jails
