The Zambian Presidential Election is scheduled to be held on Tuesday Jan 20,2015 following the death of incumbent President Michael Sata and the elected President will serve the remainder of Sata's five-year term.
Following his death on 28 October, Vice President Guy Scott became Acting President and became the first white leader on the African continent since Apartheid-era South Africa's F W de Klerk
The Zambian Constitution requires that elections be held within 90 days of the death of an incumbent president

Guy Scott - a white Zambian of Scottish descent - was barred from contesting the election himself because his parents were not born in Zambia.
Zambians have been voting in a presidential election on Tuesday Jan 20,2015 and the vote is expected to be a close contest between Edgar Lungu from the governing Patriotic Front and Hakainde Hichilema from the United Party for National Development
Zambia's 5.2 million eligible voters were due to cast ballots at 6,000 polling stations.
It has been raining in most parts of Zambia,but the weather did not deter Zambians who queued quietly from the early hours to elect Michael Sata's successor

Edgar Lungu wins Zambia's presidential election
Defence and Justice Minister Edgar Lungu of the Patriotic Front. won by a 48.3% majority and his rival, Hakainde Hichilema of the United Party for National Developmen came close with 46.7% Votes,the election commission said, after an election race marred by delays.
On Saturday, Mr Hichilema called the "election" stolen, accusing the electoral commission of manipulating the results to favour Edgar Lung
Edgar Lungu, who will be sworn in on Sunday Jan 25,2015 said he aims to complete economic development projects begun by his predecessor
