The Election Commission has announced by polls for a Lok Sabha seat in
West Bengal and six Assembly seats lying vacant in various States, on
Monday Jan 12,2015
Elections in Bangaon Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal was necessitated following the demise of
Kapil Krishna Thakur, who had won in Trinamool Congress ticket.
The 6 Assembly constituencies that are going for polls are -
- Liromoba (ST)Arunachal Pradesh
- Panaji, Goa
- Srirangam, Tamil Nadu
- Krishnaganj (SC), West Bengal
- Mukhed, Maharashtra and
- Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
The Srirangam by-election was necessitated after a special court in Bangalore awarded J Jayalalithaa a 4-year imprisonment on September 27,2014 in the disproportionate assets case
AIADMK fields S. Valarmathi for Srirangam by-poll
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has fielded S. Valarmathi, the joint secretary of the party’s Tiruchi unit, as the candidate for the Srirangam by-election scheduled for February 13,2015
Tirupati seat was lying vacant since December 15, 2014, following the death of MLA Mannuru Venkatramana.
