Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was conferred with top French civilian award -- 'Knight of the Legion of Honor'.
Visiting French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius presented the prestigious award to the 48-year-old actor at a function in Mumbai on Tuesday July 01,2014 for his outstanding contribution to cultural diversity across the world.
Shah Rukh Khan is presented with a bottle of Moet Chandon, the finest and most expensive brand of Champagne.
Accepting
the award - instituted in 1802 by none other than Napoleon Bonaparte
for outstanding service to France regardless of the nationality of the
recipients - Shah Rukh said: "There are different moments in life that
make you feel that you are on the right track. This is one such moment."
Shah Rukh Khan made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with 'Deewana'. Some of his memorable films are 'Darr', 'Baazigar', 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge', 'Dil To Pagal Hai', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', 'Swades', 'Chak De! India', 'Devdas', 'My Name Is Khan' and 'Chennai Express'

Shah Rukh Khan is the second Bollywood actor to be conferred with Legion of France. Amitabh Bachchan became the first actor to receive this award, in 2007.
