Thousands of public buses are off the roads in Mumbai after a flash strike by drivers and conductors who are opposing longer duty hours. Bus drivers did not report to work today, bringing India's commercial capital to a halt.
Nearly 80 % of the BEST or Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport-run public buses are not running,
The buses are also the main connecting service for Mumbai's local trains, considered to be the city's lifeline.
