Karnataka Lok Sabha By Polls Wednesday Aug 22,2013


The seats of Mandya and Bangalore Rural fell vacant after the sitting MPs from the Janata Dal (Secular) resigned to join the Karnataka assembly as MLAs after elections in May 2013

In Bangalore Rural, former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy of the JD(S) gave up his seat to join the state assembly.The party's candidate is Anita Kumaraswamy, his wife.
The Congress fielded DK Suresh, brother of the controversial former state party working president, DK Shivakumar

In Mandya the Congress candidate is actress Ramya, who stood against CS Puttaraju of the Janata Dal (Secular)

The BJP is not contesting either seat - but is giving support to the JD(S)

The contest is clear - it's the JD(S) Vs the Congress

Counting of votes will be done on Saturday August 24,2013

Congress wins both Bangalore Rural, Mandya seats

The Karnataka by-poll results on Saturday came as a big blow to Janata Dal Secular as the Congress has decimated the party in its bastion Bangalore Rural and Mandya Lok Sabha seats. The Congress won both the seats with heavy margin.

Congress MLA DK Suresh won Bangalore Rural constituency by 1 lakh votes and defeating former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy's wife Anitha

Kannada actress Ramya also won Mandya Lok Sabha seat by 67,000 votes against JD(S) C S Puttaraju.Mandya is a bastion of JDS, which won five of the eight Assembly seats in the district in the May 2013 assembly elections



 The Congress has maintained lead from the first round and with each passing hour its vote count kept on adding. A win in these two seats is expected to strengthen Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's position.
