The Raman Singh(BJP) government in Chhattisgarh has stolen a march over theUPA Govt at the Centre by enacting the Chhattisgarh Food Security Act, 2012, which provides for food entitlements to -
- all Antyodaya households
- priority households and
- general households
The Bill that was passed by State Assembly on Friday, seeks to provide35 kilogram/per month of foodgrains
- to Antyodaya (poorest of the poor) families at Re 1 per kg
- to priority (Below Poverty Line) households at Rs. 2 per kg and
- 15 kg/month to general (Above Poverty Line) households at a rate of less than 50 per cent of the minimum support price of the grain.

- Chhattisgarh State was formed on November 1, 2000 by partitioning 16 Chattisgarhi-speaking southeastern districts of Madhya Pradesh .
