Carnatic vocalist Nithyasree’s husband V. Mahadevan committed suicide by jumping into the Adyar river from the Kotturpuram bridge in Chennai on Dec 20,2012 Thursday afternoon.
Firemen fished out his body after a 30-minute operation. Around 12.20 p.m., Mahadevan (45) drove his Honda City with driver Suresh in the passenger seat. While heading towards Kotturpuram, he suddenly stopped the car on the bridge, ran out and jumped into the river, despite Suresh trying to stop him, police sources said
